A couple of weeks have past now, and although I did some small jobs at Nielsen I still haven't really started on my main project. Up until yesterday I really didn't ask about it though because I felt like to first get a lay of the lands and build up some experience.
But today it was time to kick up some dust and get some things sorted out.

Today I had a good call with my internship coach from Australia and worked some things about. I gave some more insights in the scope of the internship and what I was expected to do and learn and ofcourse what I personally want to learn from it.
So we talked about a certain project and the coming few days I will hear more about what it contains and if the project is broad enough for me to work on and how it will fit in my work.
Being here I have my own local bank account, and on this bank account I will receive local currency as salary. Now I didn't receive any allowance/salary yet but am having some major expenses for rent for the room and deposit. Getting payed at the end of the month is not very ideal for me as where at the end of my stay I will receive my last salary and I will receive the return on my deposit. Ending up with a lot of local currency right before I leave is not ideal.
Luckily it got sorted out and I will be payed earlier in the month so I have enough time to spend it all!
ThailandOver the past time I heard more and more about the Thai office of Nielsen in Bangkok and I am actually pretty happy I am not located in Thailand. It would have made my work a lot harder.
The first problem would have apparently been language as where not many people in the Thai office speak English, just some individuals here and there. Opposing to almost everyone speaking English here.
Also today I heard that the Thailand office still dials in to get internet. So receiving and sending large files is nearly impossible, let alone chat, casually browse or just visit any site made in this century.
So all in all I am happy that I am in the Malaysian office.
